Background and industry experience

Ian joined Fisher German in June 2012 in our Stafford office, on his sandwich placement year from Harper Adams. Following a successful year there and the completion of his degree course, Fisher German welcomed Ian back to the Ashby office, where he slotted into the Estate Management team headed up by Neil Hogbin.

Ian has primarily been focused on private clients based in the Midlands, with one estate having a significant land holding in Aberdeenshire. During his time with the Okeover Estate, Ian oversaw the creation and development of the Energy Business and is always looking to develop and diversify income streams within the portfolio. In 2017, Ian was promoted to Associate and continues to work within the private client Estate Management team.

Outside of work Ian enjoys sport playing for the Ashby Men's 1st Team, golf, skiing and country pursuits.

About me

What year did you start your job?
I was fortunate to return to Fisher German in the Summer of 2013, after completing my degree at Harper Adams University.

Why did you join Fisher German?
As part of my degree course, the third year was a sandwich year in industry. This placement year was based at FG's Stafford office and allowed me to experience many different areas and clients that firm advises. This allowed me to develop and assist with my final year studies and, crucially, focused my mind that I wished to work with private clients, dealing with estates and rural property portfolios.

What has been your favourite project and why?
The installation of the 250kw Solar PV Project. Duringthis I oversaw the installation of the 250 kw Solar from conception to completion. I dealt with the project and the client throughout. Several years on and returns are above budget which is extremely satisfying!

Most admired, non-property brand?
McDonalds as they are a huge supporter of British Agriculture, although I am not a great fan of their food.

Top pastime?
I love being outside on a hill without a mobile phone, either walking or shooting.

Best holiday destination?
I would have to say France and the Alps. It's a short flight and you cant beat a week away skiing.

One item to take to a desert island?
A knife! I am very practical, and this would be an essential item on a desert island.

Who would you like to be stranded in a lift with?
Prince Harry; I am sure he would have some great stories.

Favourite film?
Lone Survivor - the film definitely lived up to the book.
