Background and industry experience

Matthew joined Fisher German LLP in 2015, following the merger with Warmingtons. Matthew has over twenty years' experience in the property industry and has advised mainly private clients on a variety of property and rural consultancy matters within the Oxford to Cambridge Arc. These have included sales and lettings, management, agricultural support schemes, local taxation, valuation, planning, agricultural occupancy conditions, landlord and tenant matters and compensation and compulsory purchase. Predominantly, Matthew specialises in property management and agri-business matters and is the principal lead for Banbury, Bedford and Thame office clients for advice in Rural Payments Agency schemes.

Matthew is a Technical member of the Herts, Beds and Bucks Agricultural Valuers' Association and a Committee member for an East of England rural practice training company. Matthew is also part of a NFU local agents' consortium in respect to the proposed East-West Rail link and other infrastructure projects. In 2019, Matthew completed a Management Development programme through PDW training in Nottingham and in September 2017 was awarded Fisher German's rural employee of the month for innovation and completion of a Business Development project. Matthew is also the Integrated Management System and Business Development representative for the Bedford office.

Prior to Warmingtons, Matthew gained experience at Savills in Cambridge and has two Masters (one in Rural Estate Management from the Royal Agricultural University and one in Pedology, Soil Survey and Land Evaluation from Reading University), and a degree in Geology and Physical Geography from the University of Bedfordshire. He was educated at Kimbolton School.

Outside of the office, Matthew's passion for travel has led him to all corners of the globe and developing a strong photographic eye. He is a member of the Gransden and District Agricultural Society and he enjoys all forms of professional sports from the touchline with a strong bias towards athletics, equestrian, motorsports and rugby. On a practical level, he enjoys the challenge of keeping fit, cycling, horse riding, skiing and adventurous experiences, which has included swimming with saltwater crocodiles, ice cold swimming in Antarctica and diving with great white sharks!
