Background and industry experience

John is the Regional Head of Commercial Property Management for South Wales and the South West, based in the Cwmbran Office. He has responsibility for managing his very experienced team that deal with a variety of industrial, office and retail schemes across the region, acting for clients that include private, public sector, institutions, and property companies.

John qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1990 and has worked in commercial property management with the Welsh Development Agency, GVA Grimley, Richard Hayward Properties and Vine Property Management prior to their merger with Fisher German.

In addition to commercial property management, from 1998 to 2008 John worked in Industrial Agency, initially establishing the agency department at GVA Grimley's Cardiff office before moving to DTZ.

John lives in Abergavenny with his partner Lisa and enjoys walking in the surrounding countryside and the Brecon Beacons. He plans to take up golf and use the clubs he bought 10+ years ago!

Top pastime?
Lisa and I enjoy walking long distance footpaths. We are currently a third of the way along the Offa's Dyke path and also plodding our way around the Wales and the South West coastal paths, accompanied by Chico the dog and a bag of Bassetts liquorice alls

Best holiday destination?
To date, it has to be the Cascades Range of Mountains in North West America.

One item to take to a desert island?
A satellite telephone to keep in touch with people, but only as long as it does not have an e-mail function.

Who would you like to be stranded in a lift with?
The owner of the lift maintenance company (so the engineer gets us out quicker!)
