Background and industry experience
James' role includes various aspects of rural property management, including corporate estate management and dealing with various compulsory purchase schemes and compensation claims. During competition of the BSc (Hons) Rural Enterprise and Land Management course at Harper Adams University, James also spent a placement year with Clinton Devon Estates. This provided experience of a range of estate management issues, including agricultural and residential lettings, project management and property repairs.Since joining Fisher German in July 2015, James has become heavily involved in compulsory purchase and compensation work. This includes acting both for landowners and acquiring authorities in connection with road, rail (including HS2), water and district heating schemes. James also deals with occasional general practice work for local landowners, including tenancy matters, plan preparation, agricultural planning matters and development work.
Outside of work, James enjoys a range of country pursuits and in particular, training and working his two English Springer Spaniels. Whilst not out-and-about in the countryside, he also has a keen interest in theatre and has previously participated in amateur dramatic performances - something which he would like to pick-up again.
