Background and industry experience
Greg has been a Chartered Member of the RTPI since 2006 with over 18 years of experience in both private and public sector roles of the planning profession. Greg has held positions within the Public Sector within the Development Management Team and also the Strategic Implementation Team at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council. He has also held positions within the private sector at Arden Acquisition and Planning Ltd and at WS Atkins (SNC-Lavalin Group) as a Principal Planning and Environmental Consultant working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on international and nationally significant planning projects.Greg joined Fisher German in 2017 and leads the South West General Practice Planning within Fisher German. Greg has extensive experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams on delivery of a variety of projects, securing planning permissions and site promotions through emerging Local Plans on behalf of a broad spectrum of clients including private landowners, public sector bodies and corporate institutions.
During his career, Greg has worked on a variety of planning projects across the sectors ranging from infrastructure, residential, mixed use, educational, leisure, commercial, industrial/waste, rural, listed buildings and telecommunications schemes. He has experience in strategic and general planning practice, including large scale development projects being secured through Development Consent Orders (DCO's), land promotion through emerging Local Plans, pre-planning application engagement, full, outline and permission in principle planning applications for major/minor/other development (including EIA Screening Opinions), listed building consents, prior approval consent, lawful development certificates and discharge/variation/deletion of planning condition applications. Greg also has extensive experience in Planning Obligations matters - Section 106 negotiations and Community Infrastructure Levy charges.
Greg originally grew up on his family's farm in Worcestershire and is interested in architecture, urban design, the built heritage and the intrinsic values these disciplines provide to the natural and built environment and our human interaction with them. Greg's interests led him to attending Pershore and Hindlip (agricultural and horticultural) College studying Land and Environmental Management. Greg then attended the University of Birmingham obtaining a Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Town and Country Planning.
Greg lives in Worcestershire with his wife and their young children. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and playing sport. Greg is an avid motorsport fan (especially F1) and football fan.
