Background and industry experience

Barry is part of the Business Rates team. He is an IRRV (Hons) qualified rating surveyor with almost 40 years experience.

Barry joined the valuation office agency in 1986 where he gained experience in valuing all bulk class properties as well as non-bulk such as schools, hotels and public houses for rating purposes. He also valued properties for inheritance tax, capital gains and compulsory compensation.

Barry has worked in private practice since 2014 and worked in Essex, Hertfordshire and East London where he specialised in the valuation of industrial classes.

Barry has prepared and presented hundreds of cases to Valuation Tribunal acting as advocate and expert witness.

Barry lives with his wife and three grown-up children and is a licensed football coach, having coached youth and senior teams for 15 years.
