On Saturday, 14th September, a team from our Liverpool office—Erica Saxon, Andrew Davies, Phil Winckles, Chloe Dowd, and Kaitlyn Ward—took on the exhilarating challenge of abseiling down Liverpool Cathedral to raise funds for The Whitechapel Centre, the leading homeless and housing charity for the Liverpool region.

Not only did the team conquer the abseil, but they also surpassed their fundraising target, raising over £1,300. This significant contribution will greatly aid the homeless shelter in its mission to support vulnerable individuals in the community.

Graduate Surveyor Erica Saxon, who organized the event, shared her thoughts: “It was an incredible experience! The initial fear was there, but the support from everyone made it so much easier. Knowing we were doing it for such a great cause kept us motivated.”

Senior Associate Andrew Davies, who works with Erica in our Liverpool business rates team, added: “Abseiling down the cathedral was both challenging and thrilling. The view from the top was breathtaking, and the sense of achievement at the bottom was unmatched. I’m so proud of what we have accomplished together.”

Phil Winckles, Partner and Head of the Liverpool office remarked: “This was a fantastic team effort. The camaraderie and encouragement from everyone involved made it a memorable day. Raising funds for The Whitechapel Centre added a deeper sense of purpose to the challenge.”

Surveyors Chloe Dowd and Kaitlyn Ward, who work in our valuations team with Phil, also shared their experiences. Chloe said: “I was nervous at first, but once I started, it was an amazing rush. The best part was seeing how much we raised and knowing it will help so many people.” Kaitlyn added: “The abseil was amazing, as was the support that we received from our colleagues and families. Seeing how much we raised and contributing to something bigger than ourselves made it all worthwhile. It was a day I’ll never forget.”

Toni-Murphy-Roberts, Events & Community Fundraiser from The Whitechapel Centre, said: “The team’s dedication to fundraising means we can carry on our work to support vulnerable people across the city. The Whitechapel Centre is the leading homeless and housing charity in the Liverpool City Region, working every day of the year to support people who are rough sleeping or struggling to manage their accommodation. Thank you to everybody from Fisher German who took part in supporting us.”

The team’s efforts and the generous donations from supporters will help The Whitechapel Centre continue its vital work in the community, providing shelter and support to those in need.
