Our Bury St Edmunds office, which opened in Autumn 2022, has quickly become essential in supporting our Infrastructure clients and projects in East Anglia. Initially a team of two, it has now grown to over ten members, including a Partner, Qualified Surveyors, Graduates, Land Liaison Officers, Project Coordinators, and Administrators.
The office is thriving, and we’re excited to announce that we’re expanding our team. As we continue to grow, we’re on the lookout for talented and dedicated surveyors to join us. The Bury St Edmunds team is currently engaged in several Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPS) and one key project is part of The Great Grid Upgrade, supporting the UK’s net zero ambition by reinforcing the national electricity transmission network and connecting new low-energy carbon transmission. Another project involves developing a pioneering electricity link between the UK and the Netherlands.
Our Project Coordinator, Louise Burford, shared her thoughts on the projects, her role, and the Bury St Edmunds office: “These projects are fast-paced, demanding, and require a proactive approach due to their nature and scale. However, the team at Bury St Edmunds is tight-knit and works tirelessly to deliver for the client.
“My role is to coordinate key work streams, including the Section 172 process, Section 42d mailouts, which went out to over 5000 PILs (Person with Interest in Land) and managing the administrative and project coordinator team to ensure our systems and processes are efficient and accurate. Although the Bury St Edmunds office is relatively new, the team has grown significantly, necessitating two office moves/expansions in just over a year. Being part of this process has been exciting, and we hope to continue our growth.”
The team also supports other major framework contract clients in the electricity distribution and gas transmission sectors, assisting with land access and diversion works. They provide land consultancy advice to support our clients and liaise directly with landowners and other stakeholders.
Partner, James Gowing, commented on the office and his decision to join the team: “The office is a thriving and growing team dedicated to providing excellent client service across a range of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. We have a supportive and team-focused approach to ensure individuals can grow and reach their potential. I chose to join because I see the huge potential to establish and build a successful team here in East Anglia and are excited to continue growing what has already become a very successful office.”
